TRANSLATION INTO FRENCH
YOU DESERVE EXCELLENCE!
As a literary translator, I am often outraged by the quality of some of the translations I read – especially since the author is usually not aware of it.
Literary translation does not mean literal translation!
It is about adapting, respecting the musicality and rhythm of the target language, adapting to the context and the culture.
Literary translation is an art! Yet, too often, this artistic work is entrusted to people who are all but artists. It's like entrusting the renovation of a painting to a house painter...
Of course, this is less true in large publishing houses which take the time to have a book translated and proofread several times before publishing it.
But in the self-publishing context, greed is often the only motivation. As a result, prices are dragged down, translators are mostly young and inexperienced, and the proofreading step is sloppy. You only have to look at the readers’ comments to realize that the grammar and syntax very often leave much to be desired...
By creating Les Éditions du Coq noir, we wanted to restore excellence:
- Low but reasonable prices;
- Qualified and experienced translators;
- 3 proofreading steps.
With us, your book is in the best hands. It will be perfectly written, neat, and appreciated by French-speaking readers!
You deserve it…
